چکیده

The molecular composition of fine particulate (Dp >_2 I.tm)organic aerosol emissions from the most important sources in the Los Angeles area has been determined. Likewise, ambient concentration patterns for more than 80 single organic compounds have been measured at four urban sites (West Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Rubidoux) and at one remote offshore site (San Nicolas Island). It has been found that cholesterol serves as a marker compound for emissions from charbroilers and other meat cooking operations. Vehicular exhaust being emitted from diesel and gasoline powered engines can be traced in the Los Angeles atmosphere using fossil petroleum marker compounds such as steranes and pentacyclic triterpanes (e.g., hopanes). Biogenic fine panicle emission sources such as plant fragments abraded from leaf surfaces by wind and weather can be traced in the urban atmosphere. Using distinct and specific source organic tracers or assemblages of organic compounds characteristic for the sources considered it is possible to estimate the influence of different source types at any urban site where atmospheric data are available. Chemical Characterization of Fine and Coarse Particles in Gosan, Korea during Springtime Dust Events

Particulate matter was collected at Gosan, Korea, a remote location in the East China Sea, from late-March through May, 2007. Two sizes of particles, fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10–2.5) modes, were analyzed for chemical composition. Samples were analyzed by mass, elemental and organic carbon, and inorganic ions. Organic molecular markers were also measured using solvent-extraction gas chromatogr...

Contribution of dissolved organic matter to submicron water- soluble organic aerosols in the marine boundary layer over the eastern equatorial Pacific

Stable carbon isotopic compositions of water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) and organic molecular markers were measured to investigate the relative contributions of the sea-surface sources to the water-soluble 15 fraction of submicron organic aerosols collected over the eastern equatorial Pacific during the Tropical Ocean tRoposphere Exchange of Reactive halogens and Oxygenated VOCs (TORERO)/KA-...

Source Apportionment of Diesel Particulate Matter in the Southeastern United States Using Models3/CMAQ

Source apportionment of fine particulate matter is important to identify the sources that are responsible for the ambient concentrations observed in a particular area. The fine and ultra fine sizes of diesel particulate matter (DPM) are of greatest health concern, which significantly contributes to the overall cancer risk from air toxics. The composition of these fine and ultra fine particles i...

Simple procedure for production of short DNA size markers of 100 to 2000 bp

DNA size markers (ladder) are essential tools in molecular biology, genetics and biotechnology. In this study, a simple and cost-effective method for laboratory production of DNA ladders is introduced. For this purpose, different sizes of 100 to 2000 bp DNA segments were designed using PCR technique. For producing 14 different gene fragments as DNA molecular weight markers, recombinant plasmid ...
